FMO Annual Awards Program

FMO celebrates the excellent efforts of its member markets each year with the annual award program. Nominations will be judged by the FMO board awards committee and will be presented during the Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Convention (OFVC) in February.

Farmers’ Market of the Year

Farmers’ Markets Ontario will recognize an outstanding Farmers’ Market that is exemplary in adding value to their communities and the Ontario farmers’ market sector for the season.

There are 4 components:

  1. Transparency – Consumers and vendors
  2. Community Engagement – Level of commitment in connecting farmers, producers and consumers
  3. Vendor’s Choice – What makes your market a great one from a vendor’s perspective
  4. Other –  a) Exemplary element, program, event or anything that adds value.  Example: growth, sustainability, educational programs – b) community/community engagement, impact, accessibility, innovation or green program.
