“We started at the Kitchener Market in 1975,” Vera Martin proudly notes, and she further explains that the 100 acre farm has been home to 6 generations of her Mennonite community. Vera took over the maple syrup operation from her father 9 years ago and today 1000 trees are tapped “in the old-fashioned way,” producing 400-500 gallons of syrup annually. The Martin’s stall is a familiar presence year-round at the Kitchener Market and Vera’s syrup, candy, maple butter and apple butter are enthusiastically welcomed by both longtime and new customers.
