John & Anne van der Heyden & family
John and Anne van der Heyden have devoted 10 acres of their land and the past 27 years of their lives to growing certified organic vegetables for market. Their four daughters help out and “farming and the benefits of healthy eating are a passion,” says Anne of the family’s commitment to small, sustainable farming. Good environmental practices are simply a way of life for John and Anne, who pick, package and deliver produce directly to consumers. This dedicated couple loves – and lives – to engage people in the nutritional cycle on a daily basis and they are deeply inspired by the number of young people showing an interest in farming today.
