James & Elizabeth Holland
“It’s great to retail yourself at market – it’s the only way to go,” says Jim Holland. For the past 20 years, local farmers’ markets are the only place Jim and his wife Elizabeth have sold their produce. The Hollands began market gardening in 1991, eventually adding 3,000 square feet of greenhouses to their operation. They love how the greenhouses extend the growing season, allow for crop variety and dodge the worst of bugs and weather. Loyal customers love it too: their numbers continue to grow each year.
