Our Executive Director, Robert T. Chorney, one of the founders of FMO, has a broad business background.
For 19 years he was an executive with the Co-operators, Canada's largest all-lines insurance company. He spent seven years in the travel and tourism industry, and five years as a Market Development Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture & Food, where he guided the renaissance of Ontario's Farmers' Markets.
Bob has helped organize some 100 new Farmers' Markets and he has consulted to farm, government, business and community groups across all of Canada and in many parts of the United States. He has been a featured speaker at several international Direct Farm Marketing Conferences.
He is the co-author of recently-released "Sharing the Harvest", the first-ever Canadian How-To handbook on how to build Farmers' Markets and how Farmers' Markets build community!
Most recently he organized the first-ever meeting of farmers' market leaders from across Canada where the new organization Farmers' Markets Canada was born. Bob was elected as the founding Chair.
